Ukraine successfully counterattacks, leading to Russia losing control over Stepove: British intelligence assesses situation near Avdiivka
In the past week, Ukrainian forces executed effective local counterattacks near the village of Stepove in the Avdiivka direction. Simultaneously, Russian troops deployed Shtorm-Z penal units in their assaults
This is stated in a report from the Ministry of Defence of Great Britain.
During the past week, Avdiivka in the Donetsk region has seen the most intense fighting on the front.
According to official Ukrainian data, around 40% of all combat clashes occurred in the Avdiivka direction on certain days.
British intelligence highlights that Russian offensives mostly involve infantry assaults, often carried out by penal units like "Shtorm-Z."
The British Ministry of Defence report underscores that Ukrainian units likely executed successful local counterattacks, preventing Russian troops from gaining full control over the village of Stepove.
"It is here that Russia is attempting one part of a pincer movement to envelop Avdiivka and its heavily defended industrial zone," British intelligence added.
- As per the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there were 98 combat clashes at the front in the past 24 hours on December 10. Defense forces eliminated 1,030 invaders, along with 19 tanks and 31 armored vehicles.
