Ukrainian forces repel 40 Russian attacks in Pokrovsk amid 168 clashes in a day

Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff reported the information as of 8:00 a.m. on December 31.

Yesterday, Russia launched one missile attack on Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas using one missile. In addition, it carried out almost 4,500 attacks, including 198 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 1,864 kamikaze drones to attack.

Also, yesterday, Ukrainian aviation, missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces conducted four strikes on the Russian troops' concentration areas, ammunition depots and six other important Russian targets.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian troops countered two Russian attacks near Vovchansk and Lyptsi. 

In the Kupyansk direction, 16 Russian attacks took place over the last day. Ukrainian defense forces rebuffed the Russian assault near Holubivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Kruhliakivka and Zahryzove.

Russian forces attacked in the Lyman direction 22 times. They tried to advance near Kopanky, Nadiia, Novoiehorivka, Makiivka, Ivanivka and Terny. 

Russian troops tried to force Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Bilohorivka in the Siverskyi direction once. 

In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces attacked 12 times near Chasiv Yar and Stupochky.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces carried out 12 attacks near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction Ukrainian defenders stopped 40 Russian assault and offensive actions near Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Zelene, Dachenske, Novyi Trud, Shevchenko, Vovkove, Novoolenivka and Novoielyzavetivka.

Ukrainian Armed Forces fought off 21 attacks in the Kurakhove direction. Russian troops launched the main efforts near Petropavlivka, Slovianka, Shevchenko and Kurakhove.

In the Vremivka direction, Russian troops launched 17 attacks on the Ukrainian positions near Yantarne, Uspenivka, Vremivka and in the direction of Kostiantynopol and Novosilka.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops made two attempts to advance towards Novoandriivka.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions three times. They received a fierce rebuff and suffered losses.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 Russian attacks.

On the border with Belarus, no signs of enemy offensive groups were detected.

On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the Russian military is actively using artillery and UAVs in the vicinity of Ukrainian settlements.

• Ukrainian forces have eliminated another 1,610 Russian soldiers and at least 140 pieces of equipment on the frontline in the past day.
