Ukraine's air defense downs over 1,000 missiles, 11,000 drones in 2024
In 2024, Ukraine's Air Force intercepted over 1,300 Russian missiles and 11,200 attack drones

This was reported by Ukraine’s Air Force, which also noted that Russia used far more missiles and drones to target Ukraine's critical infrastructure than in previous years. A lot of these were decoys.
The Air Force explained that these tactics were meant to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defense systems.
Russian aircraft also dropped tens of thousands of guided bombs on frontline Ukrainian towns and villages.
In total, Ukraine’s air defense destroyed over 1,300 missiles, 1,200 attack drones, and 3,200 reconnaissance UAVs. The military also shot down 40 Russian planes and 6 helicopters.
- During the night of December 30, Russian forces launched attack drones at Ukraine. Ukraine’s air defense forces managed to destroy 21 drones.
