Ukraine’s Magura V5 naval drone destroys Russian Mi-8, damages another — HUR

Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) reported the information.
“On December 31, 2024, for the first time in history, soldiers of the HUR Group 13 special unit successfully struck an aerial target using a Magura V5 naval strike drone equipped with missile weaponry,” the statement read.
The report detailed that during a battle in the Black Sea near Cape Tarkhankut in temporarily occupied Crimea, a Russian Mi-8 helicopter was destroyed using R-73 SeeDragon missiles.
According to the HUR, another Russian helicopter of the same type was damaged but managed to return to its home airfield.
- On the night of Tuesday, December 31, Russian authorities reported an alleged drone attack on the Smolensk region, which resulted in a fire at an oil depot. In total, 68 drones were allegedly destroyed in Russian airspace.
