Italy allocates €13 million for Energy Support Fund for Ukraine
On December 31, the Italian Foreign Ministry announced the allocation of €13 million for the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine
This is stated on the agency's website.
The funds were allocated on behalf of Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
"At a time when attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure are intensifying, this decision is a significant step in efforts to restore energy systems damaged by the conflict. Italy's contribution—one of the most substantial by any single country—will help stabilize electricity supplies for millions of Ukrainians affected by the war during this challenging period," the statement says.
The agency noted that with this contribution, Italy "reaffirms its continued support for the resilience of Ukraine's energy sector," including in view of the Ukraine Recovery Conference, which will take place in Rome next July.
"Even before the latest wave of attacks, Ukraine's energy sector had sustained significant damage, making international support even more urgent. Italy's donation is a testament to global solidarity and underscores the undeniable importance of the Fund in providing timely and effective assistance to Ukraine's energy sector," the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.
- On December 23, the Italian government supported the extension of the authorization for military aid to Ukraine.
