Russian aggression kills 104 people in Ukraine in first 15 days of this year - UN
Since the beginning of 2023, at least 104 people have died by full-scale Russian aggression in Ukraine
This was reported by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
They claimed from 1 to 15 January 2023, 36 men, 21 women, 1 girl and 2 boys died in Ukraine by Russian aggression. Also, 44 adults, whose gender is currently unknown, died.
Also, at least 284 people have been injured since the beginning of 2023, including 80 men and 39 women, 6 girls and 4 boys. Among the victims are also 4 children and 147 adults, whose gender has not yet been established.
The UN notes that some of the civilian casualties reported during this period may not be included in the statistics. They are still awaiting confirmation and will publish them in subsequent updates. It is also noted that the real number of victims of Russian aggression for the period from 1 to 15 January 2023 may be much higher.
Also, the death toll for the entire period of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine may be much higher, as information from the sites of intense fighting is delayed. Currently, many of these reports need to be confirmed.
"We are talking, for example, about Mariupol (Donetsk region), Izyum (Kharkiv region), Lysychansk, Popasna and Severodonetsk (Luhansk region), where numerous cases of civilian deaths or injuries have been reported," the report says.
The organization also noted that most of the recorded civilian casualties were caused by the use of explosive weapons with a large impact area, shelling from heavy artillery and multiple missile launchers and the use of missiles and air strikes.
In general, the UN confirmed that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine, the number of civilians killed is 7031 people. The number of wounded during this time amounted to 11,327 people.
