Russian opposition politician Mark Feygin says that if North Korea's troops are sent to war in Ukraine, they will suffer catastrophic losses

He said this in an interview with Antin Borkovskyi, host of the Studio West program.

"Now they are discussing whether the agreement between Putin and Kim Jong Un, referring to the military component, means that North Korean military personnel may appear in Ukraine. This cannot be ruled out. Although I don't think that an agreement is a prerequisite to prevent North Koreans from being brought in. They brought Nepalese, they brought Africans, many others, so North Koreans could probably appear. I understand that at the state level, there are both material and other components that are being agreed upon, on the one hand," the opposition politician commented.

According to him, on the other hand, it is still a kind of adventurous idea.

"You know, to be between Russians and Ukrainians, you need to at least understand the language and mentality. I very much doubt that young people, and most likely these will be North Korean soldiers who are young enough, will be able to understand how to behave in this war between Slavs. I think that the decline there will be catastrophic, because we realize that the North Korean army, for all its audacious power, which is portrayed by North Korean propaganda itself, is generally a very outdated, backward army in hats and earflaps," Mark Feygin summarized.

  • On June 19, Vladimir Putin visited the DPRK at the invitation of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The countries signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement that provides for mutual assistance in the event of an attack on one of the signatories. At the same time, the DPRK leader expressed "unconditional support" for Russia in the war with Ukraine.
  • Later, the North Korean state agency published the clauses of the agreement between Russia and the DPRK on a comprehensive strategic partnership. In particular, it refers to cooperation in war, science and economy.
  • In addition, Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi believes that North Korea may resort to sending its expeditionary corps to participate in the war on the side of Russia.
