Switzerland allocates over EUR 60 million to support digitalization in Ukraine
On June 7, the Swiss government approved aid for Ukraine's digitalization in the amount of EUR 60.5 million. The funds will be allocated over 5 years
The Swiss government website reported the information.
The government approved the aid in the amount exceeding EUR 60 million at a meeting on June 7. In this way, Switzerland promotes democratic reforms in Ukraine through digitalization and at the same time increases the transparency of public services, the statement said.
“Since Russia's aggression against Ukraine began, the security situation in the country has deteriorated significantly. Millions of Ukrainians have been forcibly displaced, and in order to ensure that they too continue to have access to state-provided services, those services must be made available digitally,” the Swiss government says.
The assistance will be provided to Ukraine in 2024-2028. Funding will be directed, in particular, to projects in regions directly affected by the war and important for the country's future recovery. Some of the key areas will include healthcare, education, and humanitarian demining.
- On June 6, Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada ratified an agreement with the EU, which is necessary to receive €50 billion in funds under the Ukraine Facility initiative. This year, Ukraine will receive €16 billion.
