Russia ramps up recruitment of African mercenaries to fight in Ukraine
Russians have intensified their campaign to recruit mercenaries from Central Africa to fight in Ukraine. They are offered to fight on a contract basis for $2.2 thousand per month

This was reported by the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
"The aggressor state of Russia has significantly intensified its campaign to recruit foreign mercenaries for the war against Ukraine: it is recruiting manpower in Central Africa, in particular in Rwanda, Burundi, Congo and Uganda," the statement said.
According to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the Russians have created a special unit in the Russian Ministry of Defense to recruit African mercenaries.
Under the terms of the contract, on the basis of which mercenaries are lured to "work", a starting salary of $2,000 is offered, as well as a monthly allowance of $2,200, health insurance, and a Russian passport for the soldier and his family members.
- On May 12, it was reported that activists of the Atesh guerrilla movement had established that Russians were using African mercenaries to attack the Kharkiv region.
