Putin and Russia, unlike US, have not invaded other countries: media fakes and manipulations on June 4
Ukraine's Centre for Countering Disinformation has published a selection of anti-Ukrainian fakes and manipulations that the world media published on June 4
This was reported by Espreso TV.
According to the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, on June 4, fake news and manipulation appeared in the world.
Manipulation: The American media The National Interest wrote: "Biden permitted Ukraine to strike targets inside of Russian territory with US weapons. Who knows what’s next? Can we rule out a Ukrainian escalation leading to conflict with a nuclear-armed power? Russia already looks ready to deploy tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus and has threatened to use nuclear weapons before in the conflict. Ukraine wasted much of its weaponry, ammunition, and lives on a failed offensive."
Rebuttal: Such statements fuel the Russian propaganda narrative as part of the Kremlin's nuclear blackmail. Ukraine, which has been suffering from daily terrorist attacks from Russia for years, has the right to launch preemptive strikes against Russian military targets.
Disinformation: CIA ex-analyst Larry Johnson said in an interview with American columnist Andrew Napolitano: "George W. Bush is responsible for the deaths of Iraqis and Afghans, and then Barack Obama. We are talking about hundreds of thousands of civilians who died because of their decisions. There is no such number of victims from the actions of the Russians, from the actions of Vladimir Putin. This is just the reality. Vladimir Putin and Russia have not invaded other countries in recent times, but the United States has."
Rebuttal: This is an outright lie. In the last few decades alone, Russia has invaded Georgia and Ukraine, resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths. Furthermore, comparing Russian terrorist actions to US military operations is a classic Russian propaganda tactic aimed at downplaying Russian aggression and whitewashing Russia's reputation.
- On May 30, Espreso reported the Russia had created another fake, alleging that the European Court of Human Rights had launched a lawsuit against Ukraine over the torture of a Russian prisoner of war.
