Mariupol residents are under total pressure from Russia - mayor's advisor
Petro Andriushchenko, advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, says that almost 99% of the city and district population have been 'filtered'
He said this on Espreso TV.
"Unfortunately, the people of Mariupol remain under total pressure since the evacuation began and the Russians introduced 'filtration.' There has been no relaxation. One measure is replaced by another. Almost 99% of Mariupol's population and the surrounding district have undergone total 'filtration'" Andriushchenko noted.
He mentioned that counter-guerrilla measures are constant, either increasing or decreasing.
"For a month now, we've been seeing active counter-partisan measures. This is likely due to the large transfer of military equipment and units. The movement took place through Mariupol to the Kharkiv region and then to Zaporizhzhia again to complicate tracking of their movements, new warehouses, and overnight stays. To this end, 'filtering' was increased. We saw sudden phone checks on the streets, many arrests, etc.," he said.
Russians are actively preparing for mobilization in the occupied territories, according to Andriushchenko.
"If there's mostly recruiting there, mobilization is on its way. They have orders not to mobilize people with pro-Ukrainian views. The Russians recognize that many such people are in the occupied territory. They either want to find as many of these people as possible or force them to leave to create a security zone for themselves," he added.
- On June 15, Andriushchenko reported that the Russian forces are building new fortifications along the Mariupol-Donetsk highway.
