'Peace in January' is unrealistic
Some Western journalists are speculating that the war will end by January 20, with elections following on May 25. And Ukrainian media has taken it further
This isn’t even funny anymore.
"Even if there’s some "bigger plan" we’re unaware of, just implementing a freeze and slowly moving from a war state to something like the 38th parallel could take months."
That’s not even considering the inertia of political and diplomatic processes — even if both sides agree to a ceasefire and diplomatic settlement.
Preparing for elections alone would take at least 3 months, ideally 6. So, theoretically, January to May might work.
But anyone spreading the idea of "peace in January" is just a naive dreamer. And they’re planting these dangerous fantasies in other people’s heads.
Don’t do that.
