"Our missiles will test it": Ukrainian military spokesperson on Crimean Bridge defense
Serhii Bratchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army South, detailed how Russia is fortifying the Crimean Bridge
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Around the bridge, in terms of land defenses, they’ve set up anti-aircraft positions. They’re also trying to extend boom barriers (floating barriers designed to contain surface-level threats), and they’ve deployed over three dozen barges. I'm skeptical if this will block our sea drones. We’ll just need to be more inventive. The structure they’re building is likely an attempt to shield it from naval drones, it seems to be their main version right now," Bratchuk noted.
Bratchuk further emphasized that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are withholding certain information, keeping Russia in the dark about what the Ukrainian military knows.
"Not everything is revealed by the Defense Forces — let the Russians guess what we know and what we don’t. But they’re certainly trying to bolster their defenses. Regarding their air defense systems, we’ve already damaged them significantly in Crimea. Now, they’re attempting to restore their layered anti-aircraft defense. I think our missiles will put it to the test very soon," Bratchuk added.
- On the night of August 29, Russian-installed authorities in Crimea reported a drone attack on Sevastopol, which prompted a temporary closure of the Crimean Bridge.
