Kh-101 missile contains coordinates of Okhmatdyt hospital - military expert
Defense Express military expert Valerii Riabykh says that the Kh-101 missile that hit Okhmatdyt used thermal radar traps
He said this on Espreso TV.
"Russians are improving the tactics of terrorist strikes. Currently, there are certain limitations in detecting enemy missiles, due to the propagation of radio waves. There is a certain radio range where air targets can be detected. The lower the cruise missile flies, the later it will be detected by radar. This problem can be solved by detecting such weapons from the air. For this purpose, we can use the airborne surveillance aircraft that Sweden has promised to give us, as well as F-16s that can be included in a unified air defense system. Currently, we do not have such aircraft, and Russia uses this to plan terrorist strikes," explained Riabykh.
According to the military expert, the Kh-101 missile contained the coordinates of the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv.
"The Kh-101 missile flew at an ultra-low altitude and before hitting the Okhmatdyt, where Russian terrorists had laid down specific coordinates, it ascended and hit the hospital. To bypass Ukrainian air defense systems, the missile could have used thermal radar traps. These are means that the missile shoots off on its way to the target to influence radar and countermeasures," noted Riabykh.
The Defense Express development director added that the combined strike included several Kh-22 missiles, two of which were not shot down.
"The use of these missiles indicates the terrorist nature of this attack. Because there is no military sense in using such missiles, which have a deviation of 500 meters to several kilometers," emphasized Riabykh.
