Intense fighting escalates near Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region - local official
Serhii Chaus, head of the Chasiv Yar City Military Administration, says that Russian forces are deploying their entire arsenal in attacks on the city
Chaus shared these details on Espreso TV.
"Chasiv Yar looks quite grim right now. The battles are extremely close. Russia is practically throwing everything it has. It isn't concerned about what or who it hits. Over the last few weeks, the Russians have resumed scattering PFM-1 Petal mines across the city, which has caused injuries among residents. These mines come in various colors, and with all the autumn debris on the ground, spotting them is almost impossible. People have already suffered from these dangerous devices," Chaus emphasized.
He added that around 400 people are still in the city.
"We’re currently updating the lists. Some residents have started to leave on their own, using their own vehicles. We should have clearer numbers within a week," Chaus mentioned.
- On October 22, Mykola Dovbnia, a deputy of the Druzhkivka City Council, reported that enemy forces had made a breakthrough near Chasiv Yar, with just 7-8 kilometers left to Kostiantynivka.
- According to a summary from the UK Defense Ministry, Russian forces have likely crossed the canal in southern Chasiv Yar, moving closer to the city’s borders.
