Estonia donates Mistral air defense systems, missiles to Ukraine
On July 6, Mistral short-range air defense systems and missiles were delivered to Ukraine from Estonia. The exact number of the received SAMs is unknown
The Estinian Defense Ministry reports.
"Confirmed! Mistral short-range air defence systems and missiles provided by Estonia have been delivered to Ukraine. Let's keep supporting Ukrainian freedom fighters. Together, we can stop Russian aggression," the statement says.
On June 11, Estonia announced the transfer of launchers and missiles for the Mistral short-range air defence system to Ukraine.
For security reasons, the Estonian defence ministry did not specify how many SAMs Ukraine would receive.
For reference. Mistral is a modern anti-aircraft missile system for destroying helicopters and aircraft developed in France. Mistral is available in both portable versions (man-portable air defence systems) and for use on launch platforms for vehicles, ships and helicopters. It has a range of up to 6 km and is designed to protect against relatively low-flying aircraft and helicopters.
- On Friday, July 5, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the new Patriot air defence system from Germany was already in Ukraine.
