UK intelligence reveals consequences of Ukrainian attacks on Russian airfields
Russia was forced to withdraw at least 40 aircraft of various types from the Kushchevskaya airfield and disperse them to numerous airfields after the recent Ukrainian attack
The UK Defense Ministry reports.
“Over the course of the week, the Ukrainian attack on the Russian airfield Kushchevskaya has likely contributed to approximately 40 aircraft of different types being removed from the area and dispersed to multiple airfields further from the frontline,” the statement says.
The impact of this is unlikely to be immediately obvious or dramatic. However, according to intelligence officials, Ukraine has already demonstrated the ability to strike much further into Russia's depth than these concentration points.
Likely, the duration of Russian combat sorties will need to increase to maintain the same spatial consistency in battle. This, in turn, will require more fuel, increase costs, and also impose greater strain on crews.
- On the night of Saturday, April 27, Ukrainian drones attacked Russia's Krasnodar region. The attack targeted the Slavyansk ECO oil refinery near the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, the Ilsky refinery, and the Kushchevskaya military airfield.
