Russian fuel train destroyed in temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region
Ukraine's Security Service (SBU), in coordination with the Defense Forces, struck a Russian train in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region that was transporting 40 fuel tanks
Multiple Ukrainian media outlets, citing sources within the special services, reported the incident.
According to the reports, SBU operatives first sabotaged the railway tracks near the village of Oleksiivka in the Bilmak district, detonating them as the train was passing. When the train came to a stop and some of the tanks caught fire, Ukrainian forces struck it with HIMARS systems.
The missile strikes targeted the locomotive and the rear cars, preventing the Russians from salvaging any of the fuel. The destroyed train was carrying fuel worth approximately $4 million.
The operation aimed to disrupt fuel supply routes from Crimea to Russian-occupied areas of the Zaporizhzhia region. As a result, a critical railway line used to supply Russian troops has been rendered inoperable for an extended period.
