"Bipolar Britain" and "cancellation of elections in Ukraine": media fakes, manipulations on May 20
Ukraine's Centre for Countering Disinformation has published a selection of anti-Ukrainian fakes and manipulations that appeared in the global media on May 20
This was reported by Espreso.TV.
According to the National Security and Defense Council's Centre for Countering Disinformation, on May 20 some fakes and manipulations appeared in the world.
Manipulation: The German-Finnish blogger Kim Dotcom wrote on his X (Twitter) page:
Bipolar Britain says “we don’t want a direct conflict with Russia” while declaring that long range missiles provided to Ukraine can be used to strike targets deep inside of Russia, obviously with the help of British missile experts and target intelligence. A tiny bit unrealistic?
Counterpoint: This positioning of military assistance to Ukraine is a propaganda tactic aimed at discrediting the support of Ukraine's partners. Given the challenges of the Russian invasion, Ukraine has every right to neutralize military facilities on the territory of the aggressor country in self-defense.
Disinformation: In the American online magazine, The Federalist, the author wrote: "Russia's invasion of eastern Ukraine has driven many voters out of the electoral process. So why does Ukraine's current pro-Western leadership want to cancel the election before these pro-Russian regions can vote? Let me suggest that perhaps the insistence that "all Ukrainians" will be able to vote is a cynical ploy to prevent elections from taking place in the near future."
Counterclaim: This is yet another speculation about elections in Ukraine. The Ukrainian Constitution and relevant legislation prohibit holding any elections under martial law. In addition, Russia's full-scale invasion makes it impossible to provide Ukrainian voters with safe voting conditions.
