Belarus announces joint military exercises with Russia
Russia and Belarus are preparing to hold joint strategic military exercises West 2025 next year
The Ministry of Defence of Belarus has announced this.
The heads of the defense ministries of Belarus and Russia, Viktor Khrenin and Andrei Belousov, agreed on the idea of a joint strategic exercise of the armed forces of Russia and Belarus.
‘This exercise will be the main event of joint training of military command and control bodies and troops in 2025 and will create conditions for further improvement of the current system of ensuring the military security of the Union State,’ Khrenin said.
The exercises will focus on ‘countering attempts to falsify history’ of the World War II and the functioning of a regional grouping of troops.
‘Today, another plan of bilateral cooperation has been approved, which provides for more than 160 joint activities... As a result, the prospects for the development of Russian-Belarusian military cooperation have been clearly defined. There is no doubt that the successful implementation of all the planned activities will allow us to continue to successfully strengthen the defense capabilities of the Union State,’ Khrenin added.
- On October 23, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said that the state policy allows for the possibility of using nuclear weapons in case of aggression against Belarus as a member of the Union State.
