Russia tries to make it impossible to supply electricity from one region to another
Chairman of the National Power Company Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytskyi said that the Russian occupiers are trying to make it impossible to supply electricity from one region of Ukraine to another.
He said this in an interview with the NV publication.
Kudrytskyi noted that the invaders have been trying to destroy the Ukrainian energy system since October 10, and the shelling on November 23 had the greatest consequences.
"We had a system accident and emergency power outages in all regions of Ukraine. Automation was activated, and the units of nuclear power plants, which usually produce half of all the electricity in the country, were forced to stop. Due to the destruction caused by rocket fire, they were not able to supply electricity to the grid. A number of important thermal power plants were also damaged. We are grateful to the Ukrainian air defense, which shot down 51 missiles out of 67 launched," the head of Ukrenergo said.
He recalled that Russian forces had damaged all of Ukraine's major thermal and hydroelectric power plants.
"I can't go into details about the consequences of each particular strike. But I want to emphasize that the essence of the united energy system is that the consumer receives electricity not only from the nearest power plant. The problem that the Russian forces are trying to create is to make it impossible to deliver electricity from one region to another. And we must be ready for their new attempts," Kudrytskyi said.
