Ukrainians are burning cars en masse because of mobilization law: new Russian fake
Russian propaganda is spreading a fake that Ukrainians are burning their cars en masse because of the mobilization law
This is reported by Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation.
"Russian Telegram channels are spreading a story that Ukrainians have allegedly started burning their cars en masse because of the law on mobilization No. 10449, under which the authorities can seize the cars for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the statement says.
In fact, it is a fake. As the Center found out, the story was edited using video of burning cars from 2020. The Russians also added the logo of a fictitious TV channel and English subtitles to give the impression that the story was made by a foreign media outlet.
"In an attempt to sow discord in society, Russian propaganda uses any pretext, covering it from a convenient position," the Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized.
- On May 20, the Center for Countering Disinformation warned of a Russian fake that Volodymyr Zelenskyy "did not prolong, but usurped power in Ukraine.”
