The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff reported this.

Russia is advancing in most areas. Most of the fighting is taking place in the Donetsk region, specifically in the Pokrovsk sector. The situation in the combat areas remains difficult, but fully controlled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

In the Kharkiv sector, the Russians attacked twice in the vicinity of Lyptsi. The situation is under control. Invading forces launched a missile attack on Kharkiv.

In the Kupyansk sector, six combat engagements took place over the last day. The Ukrainian Defense Forces prevented Russian troops from storming the towns of Ivanivka and Berestove. The battle continues in the area of Synkivka. Russia launched airstrikes near Novoplatonivka, as well as Serhiivka and Makiivka.

In the Lyman sector, one Russian attack was repelled near Terny.

In the Siversk sector, Russian troops attempted four attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Klishchiivka, Vyimka, and Rozdolivka. Spirne was attacked with a guided missile.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russia has launched nine attacks so far. It targeted Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka. Three combat engagements are ongoing in the vicinity of the latter two settlements.

Most of the fighting took place in the Pokrovsk sector. Since the beginning of the day, the Russian army has tried to break through Ukrainian defense lines 23 times. Ukrainian troops repelled attacks near Yevhenivka, Novoselivka Persha, Sieverne, Netailove, Yasnobrodivka, and Nevelske. Fighting continues in the area of Kalynove, Novooleksandrivka, Sokol, and Umanske. The situation is difficult but under control.

In the Kurakhove sector, the Russians twice tried to push Ukrainian defenders back, in particular in the direction of Heorhiivka and Krasnohorivka, where the fighting continued.

In the Vremivka sector, Ukrainian troops repelled five unsuccessful attempts by the invading Russian forces to advance in the area of Staromaiorsk. The Russians received a decent rebuff and retreated.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russian aircraft struck near Novoandriivka.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Russia attacked Ukrainian defenders twice near Krynky, a bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnipro River, but failed.

There were no significant changes in other areas.

At the same time, in northern Ukraine, the Russian aggressor continues to terrorize the border settlements. It launched an airstrike on Oleksandrivka in the Sumy region, fired artillery at the areas of Krasny Khutir in the Chernihiv region, Iskriskivshchyna, Volfyne, Pavlivka, Turia, and Stepok.

Ukrainian defenders are responding appropriately to the Russian actions, taking all necessary measures to hold the designated borders and preserve their personnel, and conducting offensive and assault operations.

  • On May 20, it was reported that the Russians were most active in the Pokrovsk sector, making 32 attempts to advance over the course of the day. The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 25 attacks.
