Reznikov describes how he sees the war ending
Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has said that the war with Russia can be considered over when Ukraine returns to the borders of 1991.
Reznikov shared his opinion in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"What will be the scenario of the end of this war? I am not going to predict now, because it will also depend on our partners in the world. We no longer believe in Minsk or Normandy, nor does the president, no one believes in the third Minsk, the fourth "Normandy" and those mediators too. Because the mediator, who headed the German government, was against Ukraine's accession to NATO in 2008, so there is a pure conflict of interests," explained Reznikov.
He emphasized that it is necessary to talk about the model of ending this war with the victory of Ukraine and understanding of the security architecture for Ukraine in the future only with serious partners.
"Because there were two Chechen wars in Russia, where they signed a peace agreement after the first one and violated the terms of this agreement two years later. They attacked the unfortunate Chechnya again," Reznikov recalled.
He also named two criteria of his understanding of the end of the war.
"I will give you the criterion of my understanding of the end of this war. It is very simple, there are two of them - our border guards on all borders recognized in 1991, this is a formal and legal one. And a realistic and vital one, when we meet you at Boryspil airport ", you will get on a plane with your family members, departing, for example, to Turkey, and my wife and I will fly, relatively speaking, also to Turkey, and we will discuss in which hotel you plan to stay on vacation. Or no, not even to Turkey. I'm going to Frankfurt, and you are going to London. This will mean that British Airways and Lufthansa have reopened flights over Ukraine. This means that peace has come to Ukraine," Reznikov said.
