Political expert reveals how many Russians support Putin ahead of elections
Political scientist Vadym Denysenko says that according to recent opinion polls, over 74% of Russians are ready to vote for Putin in the presidential election
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Unfortunately, we have to admit that the Kremlin has managed to create a situation of absolute lack of alternatives to Putin. If elections in Russia were held today, over 74% of Russians would be ready to vote for Putin. This is the latest sociology conducted by the Ukrainian Institute for the Future. They were able to create a complete lack of alternatives to Putin, and unfortunately, it worked," Denysenko said.
According to the political scientist, the Kremlin is very confident in Putin's re-election.
"As for the presidential election in Russia, it will be the first vote since 1991 where social standards will not be raised. That is, there will be no increase in pensions, social benefits and salaries. Despite the fact that the Kremlin simply cannot do this, they are really confident that they can safely be elected without these issues. The only argument they will rely on to maintain public support is that things have not deteriorated further," he added.
- On November 6, Reuters reported that Russian leader Vladimir Putin had decided to run for president in 2024, and his advisers were already preparing for the election campaign.
- Earlier, reports indicated that the Russian government was testing an electronic voting system before the 2024 presidential election, probably to facilitate manipulation of the results in favor of Vladimir Putin.
