Polish ammunition plant to significantly increase production for Ukraine - Morawiecki
Polish ammunition manufacturer Dezamet, part of the state-owned Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), will significantly increase its ammunition production capacity to boost supplies to Ukraine
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki made the announcement in an interview with RMF FM.
The statement was made on the eve of the visit of EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton to the Dezamet ammunition plant scheduled for Monday. The plant is part of the state-owned Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) company.
"This plant can count on new orders and funds, and we will launch new production lines at this and other ammunition plants. We want to increase production volumes several times as soon as possible," the Prime Minister said.
Morawiecki added he also expects private companies in Poland to increase ammunition production. Moreover, according to the official, Poland will persuade partners to purchase ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces outside the bloc.
"I will convince them because we need ammunition very quickly. Since we don't have enough of such ammunition here in Europe, we have to buy it from outside, just like Poland is now buying state-of-the-art K2, K9 and Abrams weapons from abroad," the official said.
