Poland’s president shares details of MiG-29 delivery to Ukraine
Polish President Andrzej Duda said that Poland will deliver MiG-29s to Ukraine gradually, as it replenishes its own fleet with FA-50 and F-35 fighters
Duda said this at a press conference with Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen, Ukrainian Pravda reports.
"We are currently sending MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. Probably we will gradually supply what we have left from our resources [to Ukraine - ed.].We will do this as these fighters are replaced by new NATO-standard aircraft that we are buying for the Polish army," Duda said.
He added that these are FA-50 aircraft that Poland has purchased from South Korea, the first jets will arrive in Poland in the summer of 2023, as well as F-35 aircraft from the United States.
The Polish president said that production of F-35s for the Polish Armed Forces has already begun, and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who recently visited the United States, held talks on the subject with the US manufacturer, Lokheed Martin.
Duda said that Poland ranks third, after the United States and Britain, in terms of military aid to Ukraine. According to him, Warsaw has handed over more than 300 PT-91 and T-72 tanks, as well as Leopard 2, Krab self-propelled artillery systems, and Piorun man-portable air defence systems to Kyiv.
