Netherlands discuss supply of F-16s to Ukraine with US, UK, Denmark – Rutte
Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte says that the issue of supplying F-16 aircraft to Ukraine is being discussed with the US, the UK and Denmark
Rutte made the statement during a visit to Brazil, Reuters reports.
According to him, the Netherlands is considering the possibility of transferring F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine together with its partners.
"We are discussing intensely with Denmark, the UK, some other parties in Europe and also the U.S. on F-16s. The debate is ongoing," Rutte said.
The Prime Minister of the Netherlands explained that a positive decision requires the consent of all partners, as was the case with the supply of Leopard tanks.
Mark Rutte also promised to explain to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva why supporting Ukraine is an existential issue for the Netherlands, Europe and the West.
"We need to help Ukraine fight this fight. If Putin would be successful in Ukraine, and I don't think he will be, it won't end there. People are worried for their own safety, in Amsterdam, in Berlin, in Paris and Europe," Rutte said.
