Russia’s nuclear blackmail might crumble as US, Europe responds — military expert Zgurets
Serhiy Zgurets, Defense Express CEO and military expert, speaks on how the US and Europe are now mirroring Russia in the field of nuclear weapons
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
“The situation related to nuclear capabilities or threats of their use is quite complicated. For a long time, Russia has been using the threat of tactical and strategic nuclear weapons as a factor of influence on our European and American partners. But lately we have seen that the situation is beginning to change in the other direction. Recently, France has launched missiles used by French aircraft that are related to nuclear potential. Now such things are happening in the United States. Before that, they tested nuclear weapons in a mathematical way,” Zgurets said.
The military expert also reminded that there is currently no treaty between Russia and the US that restricts the use of nuclear capabilities.
“This is a muscle flex that Russia tried to demonstrate earlier. Now we see that our partners are responding in this information and psychological field. And this is a sign that all of Russia's arguments about nuclear weapons will fall apart. Because the United States and some European countries can counteract in a mirrored manner,” Zgurets emphasized.
- According to ISW, the Kremlin times its nuclear rattling to coincide with major political discussions in the West. This is how Russia tries to influence foreign officials.
- On May 25, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that Europe must learn to “play the escalation game” better so that Putin can guess its intentions.
