Russia could move combat-ready units from Kupyansk to Kursk region — former Aidar battalion's platoon commander
Russian troops do not have the resources to repel attacks by pro-Ukrainian Russian volunteers in the Kursk region
Yevhen Dykyi, former platoon commander of the Aidar battalion, shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"It seems that the Russians do not have the strength to repel even those rather limited, localized attacks in that direction. That the FSB border troops and the sabotage groups that were used against us there will not be able to stop a general military attack. And there is a general army attack with the support of armored vehicles, everything is as it should be. So of course, Russian volunteers will be forced to withdraw from there. However, to do so, the Russian army will have to transfer some combat-ready units from the front. It is most likely that they will be transferred from the Kupyansk direction, because it is geographically closest," said Dykyi.
According to him, Russian volunteers will not be allowed to gain a foothold there.
"It would be too painful for Putin's regime, it would be an outright humiliation. It would cause a certain public reaction in the respective style of the Russian Federation," he added.
- On the morning of March 12, members of the Freedom of Russia Legion from the Russian-Ukrainian border announced that they were going to liberate Russia from dictator Vladimir Putin. The military of the Siberian Battalion reported fierce fighting on the territory of Russia, while the Freedom of Russia first said it had taken control of the village of Tiotkino in the Kursk region, and later clarified that fighting for the village was ongoing.
- Oleksiy Hetman, a reserve major in the National Guard of Ukraine and a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, believes that the raid by the Freedom of Russia Legion is a challenge to Putin and his entourage. In his opinion, if at least one Russian battalion goes over to the side of the Russians fighting against Putin, a chain reaction may begin throughout the army.
- On Wednesday, March 13, Russian volunteers continued their raid on Russian territory: they called on residents of Kursk and Belgorod regions to evacuate.
- Later, Alexei Baranovsky, a volunteer of the Freedom of Russia Legion, said that in the Kursk region, fighting was already taking place outside the village of Tiotkino.
