Former head of the Security Service of Ukraine Valentyn Nalyvaichenko believes that Lukashenko shows his loyalty to Putin sending Belarusian troops to freeze in the forests and swamps

He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.

"We need to understand what Lukashenko and his regime are showing us and what is actually happening, what is all this show for. The first and most important thing is that we saw and heard that Lukashenko announced the sudden transfer of the troops of the Republic of Belarus to other locations, where Lukashenko imitates readiness to deploy troops. In my opinion, the most important reason why Lukashenko started such ostentatious manoeuvres in December is to receive a discount on gas from the Russian Federation and Putin himself, for which, perhaps, Belarus will not pay," the member of Ukrainian parliament noted.

Valentyn Nalyvaichenko noted that in this way Lukashenko shows what kind of ally he is, and Belarusian troops are ready to freeze in the forests and swamps of Belarus, supporting Putin as an aggressor.

"In addition, Lukashenko has already learned that Poland, Ukraine and other NATO member states are a single union, a single anti-Putin coalition. New tanks, new weapons, and Patriot air defense systems are appearing on the territory of Poland, which also shares a common border with Belarus. Lukashenko's regime understands that apart from Putin, his money and gas, he has nothing left. I'm not talking about sanctions, about trade restrictions, about the loss of trade with Ukraine, the volume of which was a huge USD 6 billion a year, and now all this is lost due to the absolutely stupid position of Lukashenko in supporting Putin's aggression against Ukraine," Nalyvaichenko emphasized.
