Lithuania says Putin’s claims about Lithuanian and Polish military threat to Ukraine are absurd
The chairman of Seimas’ National Security and Defense Committee, Laurynas Kasčiūnas, described as absurd Putin’s statements that Lithuanian and Polish military units are intended to later occupy western Ukraine
The official was quoted by LRT, the Lithuanian National Broadcaster.
"Complete absurdity - that's all you can say without going into deep analysis. Putin is in utter desperation trying to create yet another external enemy, an external enemy narrative,” Kasčiūnas said.
“Maybe he is trying to play with some anti-Polish feelings, to wake up this sentiment for someone, but it will not be efficient and effective here at all," the Lithuanian MP added.

The day before, Putin said that Poland and Lithuania were planning to occupy Ukraine. He called the western territories of Poland a gift from Joseph Stalin.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki reacted by noting that the Russian ambassador would be summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs because of Vladimir Putin's words.
