Kyiv City State Administration comments on possible evacuation of city residents
The Kyiv City State Administration has declared that the authorities are not yet preparing for a complete evacuation of residents
This was stated by the head of the Department of municipal security of the Kyiv city state administration Roman Tkachuk in a comment to the Suspilne channel.
"The system is ready for such a step, but this does not mean we are now preparing to evacuate," Tkachuk said.
Thus, he explained what he meant when he spoke about the possibility of a complete evacuation to the American edition of the New York Times, which published the article "Kyiv plans a general evacuation of the population in case of a blackout."
In particular, he said there is a threat that water will disappear without electricity and sewerage will not work. Therefore, the government and the city administration are planning all possible measures.
Tkachuk added that power engineers would warn that the network is on the verge of stopping at least 12 hours before a complete shutdown. Only then will the authorities start informing people and asking them to leave.
