ISW: Ukrainian defense forces regain positions near Avdiivka
According to American analysts, Ukrainian troops recently attacked Russian positions in the forest south of Stepove
This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) on December 4.
Analysts note, referring to geolocation footage, that Russian troops have advanced in the area of the reservoir north of Avdiivka. It is also reported that they have advanced within Stepove.
Russian military bloggers claim that the Russian Armed Forces have strengthened control over positions in and around Stepove, and heavy fighting continues near the Avdiivka Coke Plant. According to one blogger, Russian forces have advanced 600 meters in the forest area southeast of Stepove.
The report also mentions the statement of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces about Russia's unsuccessful offensive operations east of Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, as well as near Avdiivka, Stepove, Sieverne and Pervomaiske.
According to US analysts, Ukrainian troops recently conducted counteroffensives in the Avdiivka area and as of December 1, regained lost ground.
"Geolocated footage posted on December 4 shows Ukrainian forces assaulting Russian positions in a tree line south of Stepove on or around December 1," the report said.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that in the Avdiivka direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 15 Russian attacks, with a total of 61 combat clashes over the day.
