Romania summons Russian diplomat over Shahed drone fragments
The Romanian Foreign Ministry summoned a chargé d'affaires to Russia after incidents with Russian drones in the country
Romania's MFA said in a statement.
"By order of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bucharest was summoned today, Thursday, July 25, 2024, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the identification in Tulcea County of drone fragments used by Russian armed forces in attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure," the foreign ministry said.
The MFA representative conveyed the strong protest of the Romanian authorities and condemned the repeated attacks by Russian forces on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, calling for their immediate cessation. It recalled that the targeting of civilian targets constitutes war crimes.
"The irresponsible nature of military strikes, including in proximity to Romania's border, endangers national security. On a broader level, it is the exclusive responsibility of the Russian Federation, following the aggression against Ukraine, for the serious deterioration of the security environment on the Black Sea," Romania's MFA said.
- Thus, on the night of July 24, residents of the northern part of the border Tulcea County heard an air raid alert.
- Yesterday's incident in Romania was also mentioned by the Ukrainian Air Force and the Romanian media.
