Russian vessel violates Finnish water space
The Finnish Ministry of Defence said that on July 26, a Russian vessel allegedly violated the country's territorial waters in the Gulf of Finland
The Finnish Ministry of Defence reported this.
The Russian vessel is suspected of territorially violating Finland's maritime waters in the eastern Gulf of Finland.
According to the ministry, the suspected violation took place in the afternoon of July 26.
"As the highest territorial surveillance authority, the Ministry of Defence directs and coordinates the activities of the territorial surveillance authorities in matters related to territorial surveillance. The Border Guard is in charge of investigating incidents involving border violations," the statement said.
The Finnish Ministry of Defence noted that the previous confirmed territorial violation took place on June 10, 2024, when four Russian state aircraft entered Finnish airspace off the coast of the islands of Loviisa and Porvoo.
The Border Guard is currently investigating the incident and will provide additional information as it progresses.
- Finnish President Alexander Stubb approved a law allowing the denial of asylum to migrants, a measure adopted in response to concerns about Russian actions. The law came into effect on July 22.
