Gold and silver possessions looted from Ukrainians found with dead Russian soldiers in Kherson region
As they moved through the village of Potemkine, in the Kherson region, servicemen with the Ukrainian Army's 60th detached infantry brigade have found valuable possessions among the belongings of Russian forces' dead soldiers, which they looted from Ukrainian citizens.
The Operational Command South shares information.
Servicemen of the 60th separate infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted a successful offensive and liberated the village of Potemkine in the Kherson region. At the same time, they repelled several counterattacks of the Russian invaders, destroyed the invading BMPs and tanks, and also "hunted down" one "Tiger", the message says.
"During the sweeping of the settlement, our servicemen found valuable items in the belongings of dead Russian paratroopers, which they forcibly took from Ukrainian citizens. These are gold and silver rings, chains and earrings, jubilee coins and watches. Residents of Potemkine admitted that the occupiers stole their valuables with inhuman cruelty, the Buryats were especially noted," the paratroopers said.
The message also states that the gold and silver will be handed over to the Kyiv Patriarchate’s church.
OC South emphasized that this is only one of many cases of looting committed by the Russian military in Ukraine. After all, this is the usual behavior of a Russian soldier: they kill and steal on the battlefield and in captured settlements the things that are with the killed or wounded, the property of the civilian local population.
