Erdogan to become controller of Russian energy share package for Europe after new negotiations with Putin
Oleksandr Kraiev, an expert of the Ukrainian Prism Foreign Policy Council, believes that the meeting between Putin and Erdogan will be a humiliation for Russian economic diplomacy
He expressed his opinion on Espreso TV.
An international expert commented on the upcoming meeting between Turkish President Erdogan and Kremlin leader Putin.
“Yesterday, December 8, Turkey made new demands to Russia regarding markdowns and discounts on the gas that Ankara is going to purchase from Moscow. Here it is worth noting that Turkey is the only country that not only allows itself to make similar demands to Russia, but also can count on the Russians to do it very obediently. Let's not forget that Erdogan remains the only and irreplaceable negotiator for Putin,” the expert of the Ukrainian Prism Foreign Policy Council noted.
Oleksandr Kraiev recalled that it was Erdogan who created a gas hub for Putin, through which he was going to supply Russian gas to European countries bypassing all restrictions, and it was Erdogan who actually linked the transit of Russian energy carriers to the Middle East.
“The new negotiations between Putin and Erdogan will not only be an adjustment of the clocks, but it will also be a rebalancing of forces in the region, because now only Erdogan will be able to dictate the terms of energy and economic cooperation to Russia. Accordingly, Erdogan will not only be an irreplaceable negotiator for Putin, but will actually become the controller of the share package of Russian energy for Europe. Therefore, these negotiations can bring us much more than we expect, and first of all, it will be a humiliation of Russian economic diplomacy,” Kraiev emphasized.
