Dmytro Kuleba announces new assistance from NATO and speaks about discussion on Patriot air defense systems and tanks
Ukraine will soon receive a new package of assistance from NATO countries, which includes, in particular, energy supplies, heavy artillery and armored vehicles.
This was stated after the NATO ministerial meeting in Bucharest by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
"Regarding NATO. First, I thanked all the states that were unanimous that they would be with Ukraine for as long as necessary. This is an extremely important signal, and we have not previously had such unanimous support on this particular point. I have added only one element to this position: you must not only be with us for as long as necessary but also provide us with everything we need as quickly as necessary. At this meeting, new contributions from countries to our energy security, transformers, generators, weapons, and winter uniforms were announced. I can't say everything, but among these positions, there are 155-mm artillery, shells, and armored vehicles. All this will soon arrive in Ukraine and strengthen our Armed Forces. But everything has to happen very quickly. We can't wait," Kuleba said.
The minister also spoke about the discussion on providing Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems and NATO-style tanks.
"Of course, everyone is interested in the topic of Patriot air defense systems. If earlier no one even talked about it, except for us, but there was no conversation as such, now the conversation is taking place and this is a very serious and substantive conversation. And we will continue to work for the result. The second point concerns primarily Western NATO-style tanks. I gave a very simple example that from the very beginning of the war there were always some psychological barriers to the supply of weapons, either artillery was not supplied to us, or MLRS, or something else. And now everything is being delivered to us. But these decisions were made after some tragedy occurred at the front and they had no choice but to make these decisions. I said them to change the logic, don't wait for something bad to happen, make this decision now to prevent a bad development of events, to act proactively and liberate more territories and Ukrainian citizens," Kuleba said.
In addition, the foreign minister noted that the meeting discussed the formula for peace proposed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the G20 summit, as well as the initiative on Ukrainian food exports Grain from Ukraine.
"The third element that we discussed both at the meeting with NATO countries and at my bilateral meetings is the 10-step formula for peace, which was announced at the G20 summit by President Zelenskyy, and this is a real way to unite all peace-loving countries of the world. Not only Western countries but also Africa and Asia around the victory of Ukraine, the victory of international law. Many people praised the Grain from Ukraine initiative, and everyone is ready to take an active part in it," Kuleba said.
