US unveils $200 million aid package for Ukraine, promises $1.5 billion in long-term support
The US has announced a new military aid package worth up to $200 million. Washington also allocates $1.5 billion in long-term support to Kyiv through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative fund
White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby said this, Voice of America reports.
He noted that as part of this American assistance, Ukraine will receive air defense systems, HIMARS artillery ammunition, mortar shells, and Javelin anti-tank missiles.
It is emphasized that the US Department of Defense provides long-term support through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative Fund to strengthen air defense, anti-tank capabilities, as well as Kyiv's long-range strike capabilities.
At the same time, the Pentagon announced long-term support through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative fund in the amount of $1.5 billion.
The US Department of Defense has released a list of weapons under the new security package:
- Munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS);
- Short- and medium-range air defense munitions;
- RIM-7 missiles for air defense;
- Electronic Warfare equipment;
- Ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS);
- 155mm and 105mm artillery rounds;
- 120mm mortar rounds;
- Precision aerial munitions;
- Tube-Launched, Optically-Tracked, Wire-Guided (TOW) missiles;
- Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems;
- Small arms;
- Explosives material and demolitions equipment and munitions;
- Secure communications systems;
- Commercial satellite imagery services; and
- Spare parts, maintenance and sustainment support, and other ancillary equipment.

"Since April, the president has already signed nine security assistance packages, and our military forces are working around the clock to get these weapons and equipment to Ukraine as quickly as possible," John Kirby emphasized.
"The United States will continue to work with nearly 50 Allies and partners to ensure that Ukraine's brave defenders receive the critical capabilities they need to fight Russian aggression," the Pentagon emphasizes.
