Ukraine debate between Harris, Trump return U.S. to international politics - Journalist Gypson
Katherine Gypson of Voice of America says the Ukraine topic in the Harris-Trump debates refocused American attention on the Russia-Ukraine war
She shared her opinions with Espreso TV.
“I think it's very important that Ukraine is mentioned so often in today's debate. It brings foreign policy, particularly the war in Ukraine, back to the attention of American voters at a time when we are dealing with a lot of difficult domestic issues here in the United States. So it will reopen a discussion that has been off the table since Congress passed the last round of U.S. aid to Ukraine earlier this year. It's good to see this issue back in the public debate, especially as we look at the two very different approaches proposed by the candidates,” Gypson said.
The journalist emphasized that Ukraine is facing completely different scenarios if Donald Trump is elected president of the United States.
“Donald Trump's re-election as president will mean a completely different future for Ukraine compared to what Kamala Harris is proposing. Therefore, American voters should definitely take this into account on Election Day,” she added.
