West may betray Ukraine in winter, as Putin will resort to gas blackmail - former British army commander Kemp
British colonel warns Ukraine of possible Western betrayal, if Putin resorts to gas blackmail
This was stated by the former commander of the British army, Colonel Richard Kemp, writes The Telegraph.
"While Europeans have been blindly satisfying their hunger for cheap Russian energy, Putin has been preparing a strategic trap for them for years. His funding, disinformation and influencers in the environmental movement have increased dependence on Russia, playing a critical role in preventing shale gas production in Europe, and in Germany's shutdown of nuclear power under the strong influence of the Green parties, which emerged from the Moscow-sponsored anti-nuclear movement of the 1980s. A master of political and economic warfare as well as propaganda, Putin pursued both Russia's economic gain and political influence in such situations," Kemp believes.
He believes that the war may go into the "deep freeze" phase, and Ukraine's allied countries will begin to put pressure on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to his assumption, the West wants to minimize economic damage due to sanctions. Allied countries of Ukraine have significantly reduced gas consumption among household consumers, and gas prices may also skyrocket. This will cause massive voter dissatisfaction, which may force politicians to reconsider their support for Ukraine and tough sanctions against Russia.
"Putin knows how to increase the pressure until European countries capitulate, including completely cutting off energy supplies. With this threat hanging over their heads, he will manipulate the ceasefire at the G20 summit in November by saying that peace may occur if he keeps Donbas, Crimea and the territory he seized along the southern coast of Ukraine," the British military officer explained.
