‘Weapons delivered today can create conditions for peaceful settlement tomorrow’: Stoltenberg says on support for Ukraine
An important prerequisite for the start of peace talks with Russia is the transfer of weapons to Ukraine, with which it will be able to defend itself against the Russian occupiers
This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with Nikkei.
Thus, commenting on the war in Ukraine, Stoltenberg emphasized that the Alliance "needs to be prepared for the long haul" as there are no signs that Russian President Vladimir Putin is "preparing for peace."
The NATO Secretary General emphasized that after providing an "unprecedented level of support", the Allies should not lose momentum.
"This support is making a difference on the battleground every day," Stoltenberg said.
"If we want a negotiated, peaceful solution to the peace and to the conflict in Ukraine, where Ukraine prevails as a sovereign independent nation, then we need to provide military support. Weapons delivered today can create the conditions for a peaceful settlement tomorrow," he emphasized.
