Ukraine to stabilize energy system by summer if there are no new Russian attacks
Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko says that Ukraine will stabilize the energy system by summer if there are no new Russian attacks
Ukraine's Minister of Energy told about this in an interview with Forbes.
“The speed of restoration is related to shelling. If there is no shelling, even taking into account the already damaged generation, we will stabilize the system by summer. We have a list of solutions that will allow us to do this,” Halushchenko said.
The minister emphasized that the situation with the energy system in Ukraine is difficult. In particular, after the shelling of Kyiv on December 19.
“Therefore, the situation in Kyiv is the most difficult. It is gradually improving. Today, there is more available capacity than yesterday,” Halushchenko said, adding that the capital is not disconnected from the energy system, but integral.
As for the import of electricity, according to Herashchenko, this is a "possible option".
“We have already tested imports in small volumes. We are currently developing mechanisms that will allow us to significantly increase the import of electricity. Now it is 600 MW - day, 700 MW - night. Technically, the possibility is much greater - 1.6-2 GW,” Ukraine's Minister of Energy said.
Halushchenko said that mobile power plants with a capacity of up to 50 MW are also among the solutions, which will help power plants and provide additional power to the system. There are manufacturers of such stations in Ukraine.
Answering the question whether the Russian Federation will continue to strike the power system after the end of the heating season, Halushchenko replied: “I hope that our Armed Forces will help them stop.”
