The hissing of lambs
During the nine years of the Russian-Ukrainian war, domestic politicians from different camps have been pushing into the minds of their foreign counterparts the demand not to talk about Ukraine without Ukraine
And all these years, despite assurances and oaths, Kyiv's friends and "well-wishers" have been making plans without inviting (or even informing) their colleagues.
Frankly speaking, I'm tired of writing about former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, talking about the motives of her diplomatic efforts, which are presented in public as "peacekeeping" but in fact pursue a completely different goal. And about the surprising "loyalty" to the Kremlin's "friend Volodya," despite the fact that he has long been the world's number one threat, a terrorist, inspirer and organizer of the XXI century genocide. Sometimes I even think that Frau Merkel could just as easily defend some cannibalistic dictator from tropical Africa if she had a reason to do so.
The most interesting thing is that Merkel, with her devil's advocacy, appears at exactly the right moment for Putin. The rest of the time, she is not visible in the political limelight, probably leading a measured, well-fed, and orderly life as a German pensioner. But as soon as "Fuhrer" Putin needs a "fire brigade," his Berlin friend rushes in, rolls out her "sleeves" to at least use verbal constructions to extinguish the flames of passion.

This time, Merkel also proved to be "relevant." The situation on the Eastern Front is inexorably approaching the trigger point for a counteroffensive. Despite the lack of certain weapons, such as aircraft, Ukrainians are determined to get the occupiers out of the occupied territories. Politically, this will is encapsulated in the formula of "1991 borders."
In Russia itself, there is hysteria, even well-fed "experts" are predicting a military catastrophe, and Prigozhin, the "prison commander" (and part-time propaganda chef), is telling his patron directly about the dire prospects of war.
Putin needs peace in its perverse interpretation. And for this purpose, all available reserves have been thrown into the fray. Having apparently realized the double game of Beijing, which has begun to promote its dubious peace formula on all platforms, the Kremlin has tried to use Macron and certain Italian "caliphs for an hour." Pope Francis is also in the game, as he suddenly found himself talking to the European revisionist Viktor Orban. And in between these cordial conversations, the former head of Gundyaev's diplomacy, Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) of Budapest and Hungary of the Russian Orthodox Church, appeared like a piano in the bushes. Of course, the Pontiff hugged his "brother" sincerely, and on the way to the Vatican he announced a special "peacekeeping mission" that he allegedly carried out on the banks of the Danube... In the end, this mission was so secretive that only the Pope and his Orthodox Kirillian counterpart knew about it. I will stress the depth of this God-pleasing relationship - Francis met with Hilarion for the first time the day after his own inauguration in March 2013.

Unlike the "secret missions" of churchmen and the consequences of politicians' visits and conversations articulated through the prism of the press, the Berlin pensioner believes that she can speak without wrapping anything in paper. Moreover, the audience in front of which the former chancellor meditated aloud was grateful: The Leipzig Book Fair, which usually attracts a crowd of left-wing intellectuals, pacifists, white coats, and good Russians. The politician, of course, was not talking about literature, but about more mundane and important matters for her. In particular, about why she chose to rely on Russian energy carriers, almost provoking an economic collapse in her own country (and throughout Europe) last winter.
But the main thing that Merkel did not forget to mention was the "persecution" of those who, in her opinion, are guided by common sense and the logic of true "peacemakers" and call for immediate negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow. Sure, "when someone like Wolfgang Ischinger, former chairman of the Munich Security Conference, says that we need to think about the fact that at some point we will have to negotiate, you shouldn’t hiss at him immediately."
“Other approaches, even Ukraine's right to demand the liberation of its territories, are called "narrow-mindedness" by Putin's German friend. And this, I can tell you, is more like "hissing" than open and reasoned criticism of the "peacekeepers" who still harbor illusions about "dialogue" with a cannibal, terrorist, and war criminal”
Other approaches, even Ukraine's right to demand the liberation of its territories, are called "narrow-mindedness" by Putin's German friend. And this, I can tell you, is more like "hissing" than open and reasoned criticism of the "peacekeepers" who still harbor illusions about "dialogue" with a cannibal, terrorist, and war criminal. In fact, like silent lambs, encouraging him to carry out new, unpunished "special military operations" with all the features inherent in these operations - the murder of civilians, rape, looting, genocide of peoples he doesn’t like.
But perhaps Merkel should not be convinced of her mistakes. Especially since, in front of a sophisticated audience in Leipzig, she unequivocally stated that she does not intend to recognize them - her past mistakes and failures. It "will not have a calming effect" anyway...
