Szijjártó says Kuleba's presence at NATO meeting undermines unity
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó says that the presence of his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba at the meeting of NATO members undermines the unity of the allies
He made the statement on Facebook.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister said he came to the meeting hoping that "no one would question the decision" that NATO is not a party to the conflict.
"We have come here with the hope that no one will question the validity of our previous joint decision that NATO is not a party to the war that is taking place in our neighborhood, and that everything must be done to prevent the development of a direct NATO-Russia conflict," Szijjártó wrote.
He then emphasized that the presence of Dmytro Kuleba allegedly violates this joint decision.
"The invitation of the Ukrainian foreign minister violates the principle of unity of NATO allies, but we (Hungary – ed.) are participating in the meeting in a spirit of constructiveness," the minister wrote.
Szijjártó said that Hungary "will support any integration efforts of Ukraine only and exclusively when Ukrainians return the rights that Hungarians in Transcarpathia had before 2015."
