Russia hits residential area in Kharkiv, injuring 4 children

On May 8, the invading Russian army attacked Kharkiv. Explosions were heard in a residential area of the city. As a result, 4 children and 3 adults were injured

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported this.

As of 5:22 p.m., it was known that the number of people injured in the shelling of Kharkiv had increased to 7.

Among them are an 8-year-old girl and three boys aged 14, 14 and 15. Two of the boys are in serious condition, one boy and one girl are in average condition. All of them were hospitalized. 

A 55-year-old civilian man with moderate injuries was also hospitalized. Two women, aged 80 and 32, are in light condition and were treated on the spot.

At around 1:10 p.m., Suspilne TV reported explosions in Kharkiv. In 15 minutes, repeated explosions were heard in the city. 

"They hit a residential area of the city. Preliminary, there are children who were injured," said Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov.

Later, Syniehubov clarified that the Russian army had hit an open area on the territory of the educational institution. As of 1:40 p.m., there is information about the injured children - boys aged 13, 12 and 15. 

In addition to the three children, two adults were wounded: a 55-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman.

On the air of the United News telethon, Syniehubov clarified that the boys were just playing soccer on a sports ground. The condition of all three is critical, and doctors are fighting for their lives.

The type of projectile used by the Russian occupation army is being established.

On the morning of May 9, Oleh Syniehubov reported on the condition of the wounded children.

A 15-year-old patient is in intensive care, stably heavy, and undergoing surgical treatment of wounds;

A 14-year-old boy - serious, stable, transferred from the operating room to the intensive care unit:

A 14-year-old patient is in intensive care, the fragments were removed, surgery was performed, and doctors are trying to save the limb;

An 8-year-old girl received a superficial injury, her condition is moderate. She was discharged for outpatient treatment.

The attack damaged a school building and apartment buildings.
