Russian forces block water and humanitarian aid deliveries to civilians in frontline areas
Around 400 civilians remain in the frontline communities of Toretsk and Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region. Russian forces are blocking the delivery of drinking water, as well as humanitarian and medical aid
The head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, reported the information, according to Ukrinform.
"In Toretsk, street battles have been ongoing for some time… About 150 people remain in the community. In the Chasiv Yar community, 250 people are still there. The Russians are preventing us from delivering humanitarian and medical aid, as well as drinking water," Filashkin said.
He noted that residents in these communities have supplies of non-perishable food, but local authorities are requesting the Ukrainian military to deliver drinking water and other humanitarian aid whenever possible.
"We are asking our defenders to deliver drinking water and humanitarian aid to the people if possible. Over the past week, only one person has been evacuated from the city of Toretsk," Filashkin noted.
- As of February 5, about 302,000 civilians remained in the territory of the Donetsk region under Ukrainian control, despite the announced mandatory evacuation.
