The press center of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reports that SBU officers documented 14 instances of illegal activities by an FSB agent, who had been leading the Anti-Terrorist Center since 2016. Through this individual, the SBU had been providing Russia with disinformation for an extended period — initially as part of counterintelligence activities and later within a criminal investigation.

"This was an extremely complex operation, involving a multi-step execution during which we utilized all available overt and covert methods of our work, as well as a full range of operational and technical measures," said SBU chief Vasyl Maliuk.

He noted that with the help of encrypted software tools, SBU personnel infiltrated the agent's mobile terminals and computers, "living alongside him." This allowed them to effectively document the collection and transmission of information to Russian forces.

Maliuk personally joined the operational-investigative group handling the "mole" and led the operation to apprehend him. He kept President Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed of every stage of the special operation. The SBU has already initiated criminal proceedings for treason, and details of the operation are expected to be publicly disclosed soon.

  • A significant movement of Russian military equipment and personnel toward the Berdyansk direction was recorded in the temporarily occupied Mariupol, Donetsk region.
