How Ukraine shoots down ballistic missiles may remain classified
Military expert from Defence Express Ivan Kyrychevskyi explained what Ukraine uses to intercept Russian ballistic missiles
Military expert from Defence Express Ivan Kyrychevskyi explained in an interview on Espreso TV.
He mentioned that while most people talk about the Patriot system, there is another option that often remains in the shadows: the Italian-French SAMP/T system, which has confirmed capabilities to intercept ballistic targets.
He also suggested that there might be a third option, possibly of Soviet origin, but it could remain a secret.
Kyrychevskyi emphasized that regardless of the system used by Ukraine's air defense to intercept Russian ballistic missiles, the issue of developing Ukraine's own licensed missile production for Patriot or receiving additional SAMP/T systems from Italy and France will remain important.
"By the way, the delivery of SAMP/T systems has been delayed. Italy promised us an additional battery, but there has been no progress on this. Therefore, we need to develop our own missile defense technologies, especially considering that the military leadership has given public hints in this direction," Kyrychevskyi stated.
- NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that in the coming days, Ukraine’s partners may announce new aid packages.
